DIGITAL SKILLS AS AN ADVANTAGE IN THE WORLD OF WORK

0 Minute

Does this sound familiar? Until recently, you felt like a pioneer and a seasoned expert in your field, and then, all of a sudden, your perception changes completely due to a lack of digital skills. While you, as a marketing manager, spend days coming up with in-depth advertising copy, your notepad for creative ideas on your bedside table is worth its weight in gold, and you present optimal results every week, you also notice that others are achieving the same results in a very short time with digital tools. Don’t worry – this is a completely normal process that is inevitable these days with new digital tools appearing every day and rapid further development. The good news is that you no longer need weeks of training to catch up with others. Because the “advantage” is not as great as you might think.

Let’s take a look at this using our protagonist Sven, a customer service representative with heart and soul for over 20 years. Sven suddenly feels like a tourist in his own job with his previous digital skills. His team juggles new tools, makes decisions in digital spaces for which he feels he needs a secret code, and the development of modern digital skills seems to be passing him by. It is precisely for this reason that his team leader approaches him with an offer: Access to the Learning Management System GLOBAL TEACH®. Including a personal learning path, just for him. “Another tool?” Sven thinks skeptically. But he clicks anyway. What happens next changes his view of work, learning and himself forever.

UNDERSTANDING DIGITAL SKILLS – MORE THAN JUST SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE

When Sven starts the first module, the relief is great. This is not about complicated technology or memorizing functions. It’s about a new attitude, about a smarter way of communicating and about confidently controlling the digital world instead of being controlled by it. With the GLOBAL TEACH® platform, Sven learns things the way he needs them: practically and without the usual buzzwords. In the past, learning meant sitting passively in a LECTURE for him. Today he actively shapes his path. The first small successes, such as a confidently moderated video call or a shared document, immediately give him a boost.

DIGITAL SKILLS EXAMPLES – SUDDENLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ACTION

One of the next learning units impressively shows him examples of digital skills from everyday life. Sven practices how to write emails that are actually read and how to conduct virtual conversations that are just as binding as an on-site meeting. It’s the small nuances that make the big difference: the right address, a clear structure, the conscious use of emojis to strengthen the relationship level. He applies what he has learned during the next customer call. He prepares the agenda in a shared document, confidently leads the conversation and summarizes the results directly afterwards for everyone to see. The surprised praise from his customer is the best confirmation. What he has learned really works immediately.

DIGITAL SKILLS EXAMPLES – CLEAR, CONCRETE, APPLICABLE

Instead of boring him with dry theory, the platform offers clear examples of digital skills that he can integrate directly into his everyday work. He learns how to coordinate appointments digitally so that endless email loops are a thing of the past. Hallelujah! He discovers how collaborative work in the cloud works and how he can work on documents together with colleagues without losing track. Each topic is accompanied in the E-LEARNING by short videos, interactive exercises and small challenges. His personal record? Exposing the three most common phishing tricks in an email inbox in under 90 seconds – a small victory that feels surprisingly good. The change of perspective is successful: Learning is no longer a necessary evil, it’s suddenly fun.

THE NEW FOUNDATION: WHY NOTHING WORKS ANYMORE WITHOUT DIGITAL SKILLS

Through his learning journey, Sven understands what has really changed in the world of work with digital skills. But what does that actually mean for normal everyday work? It’s no longer just about completing your tasks. It’s about sharing knowledge, reacting flexibly to new things and understanding digital tools as a natural part of your own professionalism. The E-LEARNING CONTENT with GLOBAL TEACH® makes it clear to him: It’s not about laboriously keeping up, but about taking control yourself. He learns to determine the pace instead of just running after it. A realization that changes everything.

DETERMINE YOUR OWN LEARNING PACE – DEVELOP DIGITAL SKILLS INDIVIDUALLY

The best thing about his development is the freedom. Sven learns when and where he wants. He uses the train ride in the morning for a short video, the lunch break for a quiz and a quiet moment in the afternoon to repeat an exercise. GLOBAL TEACH® adapts to his life, not the other way around. Instead of a rigid curriculum, he follows his individual learning path. Repetitions ensure that the knowledge sticks, and regular feedback modules show him his progress. This creates no overload, but a constant feeling of growth.

EXCHANGE INSTEAD OF GOING IT ALONE – HOW DIGITAL SKILLS GROW IN a TEAM

A real turning point is the moment when Sven shares his experiences in one of GLOBAL TEACH®’s internal forums. He writes about his initial uncertainty and his first successes. Within a few hours, he receives feedback from colleagues from completely different departments. They share similar experiences, give him tips and thank him for his openness. He realizes: True competence develops in dialogue, not in a quiet room. The platform becomes a virtual break room for him and many others, a place for collegial exchange and mutual support – far beyond departmental boundaries.

CONCLUSION: DIGITAL SKILLS AS a DOOR OPENER TO a NEW WORLD OF WORK

Today, Sven is once again a central figure in his team. He works confidently with the new systems, networks effortlessly with colleagues and acts confidently and self-assuredly when dealing with digital media. He is no longer the one who watches hesitantly, but the one who actively participates. What begins as quiet uncertainty becomes a powerful development boost for him. His journey impressively shows: Further education is no longer a question of age, but of the right tools and an open attitude. For a successful future, digital skills are no longer an option – they are your personal ticket.

Designated HR staff organise most of the administrative tasks (e.g. invitations to participants, reservations for rooms and the necessary infrastructure or other resources). Parts of the process are partially automated.
A software system automates numerous actions. However, there are still numerous manual organisational tasks that require specific employees to take action for the final organisation.
We already have a (learning management) system that supports us with the organisational tasks required for training. There are still a few organisational tasks that have to be carried out manually by a very small number of employees and with only a manageable amount of effort.
