Web-Based Training

What is Web-Based Training?

Web-Based Training, or WBT for short, is a special form of e-learning, a multimedia learning program. Unlike the older form “Computer Based Training” (CBT), the learning content is offered online here. This not only enables efficient learning but also the tracking of participants’ learning progress, as well as automatic assignment to specific individuals, provided the WBT is hosted on an LMS (Learning Management System). Since only internet access is required, the learning content can be flexibly accessed virtually anywhere by anyone with access. Ideally, WBT consists of various components, such as text, images, quiz questions, etc. This ensures that users not only internalize the content but can also apply it themselves, thereby demonstrating their understanding.

How Swissteach Supports You with your Own Web-Based Training

The transition to a digital alternative to in-person training requires some background knowledge. If certain tips and tricks are observed, WBTs – depending on the topic – can be used not only more efficiently but also much more profitably than on-site training. Therefore, Swissteach, as an agency with years of experience in digital learning, stands by you as a partner. You can look forward to professional CONSULTATION regarding e-learnings and WBTs. Naturally, your online training courses still need to be filled with content tailored to your company and your specific needs. To ensure you are not alone in this, Swissteach assists you with a wide range of pre-made learning content as well as e-learnings individually adapted to your training requirements. This way, you can relax and soon train your employees with your own web-based trainings. You can learn how to benefit from our web-based training offerings below.

How You Can Benefit from the Advantages of Web-Based Training

Not only schools and public authorities are modernizing their working methods and data collection. In every business and company, digitalization is an important topic and sometimes a major challenge. The introduction of web-based trainings is almost indispensable in this context. With its help, you can always assign new E-LEARNING CONTENT to your users, keeping them up to date. The learning progress of individual users can be viewed and checked separately. This way, each learner can be individually supported to ensure the best possible training conditions. Onboarding into basic programs or workflows is also possible with a WBT. Furthermore, you can save up to 80% in training costs during ongoing operations, as travel expenses, trainers, premises, etc., are eliminated, and learners’ time is used more efficiently. Employees become productive faster and can flexibly access online training at any time.

Your employees, too, and above all, benefit from a switch to web-based training: they gain the opportunity for flexible learning, where location and time play no role. As long as internet access is available, the learning content can be accessed anywhere and at any time. Since this is now available even on planes and all possible high-speed trains, nothing stands in the way of flexible learning on the go. Therefore, WBT is excellently suited, for example, for business trips at home and abroad, as travel times can be used efficiently and meaningfully in this way. Furthermore, employees can complete training and easily continue their education from their home office at any time. By dividing WBTs into ideally short, thematically distinct modules, maximum flexibility is achieved. A short interruption (e.g., to change trains at the station) is therefore no problem at all. Users can always resume exactly where they left off. Additionally, they can repeat and refresh specific passages at any time – entirely according to their individual pace.

Through practical application exercises, e.g., in the form of integrated quizzes, dialogue simulations, or similar, it is also guaranteed that learners not only have theoretical knowledge but can also apply it directly. In this way, knowledge is optimally anchored and immediately available for daily professional life.

Do you want to take advantage of all the benefits of web-based training soon and ideally switch to this innovative learning method today? Or do you have further questions on how you can improve the productivity and know-how of your employees, customers, or partners? Then simply CONTACT us, and we will be happy to assist you.

What Makes a Good Web-Based Training?

A good Web-Based Training is characterized by its ease of learning. This includes having relatively small learning units. A learning duration of 5 minutes is recommended in most cases. This allows learners to concentrate on the essentials instead of being overwhelmed by information.

Furthermore, it is a positive aspect of Web-Based Training if it can be accessed across different devices. This way, participants can access the WBT content via both mobile devices and desktop PCs. After all, a major advantage of Web-Based Trainings is that they can be accessed from anywhere and at any time.

Another characteristic that speaks for a good Web-Based Training is the inclusion of small exercises. These serve to reflect on what has been learned, allowing learners to check for themselves whether the content is already firmly established or still needs improvement. Furthermore, these exercises should be able to be interrupted and resumed at any time.

Good web-based training also contains not only information but also exploratory and narrative elements. What does that mean? For easier understanding, Web-Based Training provides examples, describes situations and scenarios, or tells stories that underpin and illustrate the learning content. These should, of course, be optimally tailored to the target audience. Thus, situations from everyday (professional) life with which learners can easily identify are suitable.

What also makes Web-Based Trainings very successful is the use of playful elements. This maintains the motivation of the participants. Motivation is important for the learning process. Because positive stimuli allow content to be better absorbed and retained. This also includes incentive systems. Challenges and a point system increase motivation and ensure that learners stay engaged.

Who is Web-Based Training Suitable for?

Web-Based Trainings can be used in many ways and are therefore suitable for a broad target audience. Whenever it comes to conveying important topics or complex content, Web-Based Training is the best option – regardless of industry or company size. Here, learning content is prepared in a way that makes it easy to understand. Thus, with WBTs, you have the perfect method for training your employees.

Web-Based Training is also advantageous if you have employees working from home, so they don’t have to travel to the office specifically for training. Furthermore, you save on costs for training management and space.

Designated HR staff organise most of the administrative tasks (e.g. invitations to participants, reservations for rooms and the necessary infrastructure or other resources). Parts of the process are partially automated.
A software system automates numerous actions. However, there are still numerous manual organisational tasks that require specific employees to take action for the final organisation.
We already have a (learning management) system that supports us with the organisational tasks required for training. There are still a few organisational tasks that have to be carried out manually by a very small number of employees and with only a manageable amount of effort.
