Dear Diary,
as a nurse, I am confronted with a variety of challenges every day. In addition to the time constraints that do not cease in an aging society, my profession is above all physically and emotionally demanding. Nevertheless, it is extremely important in nursing to always be up to date and to apply more recent technologies and findings. The big question is: how am I supposed to get all this under one roof?
Thank goodness the way my team and I learn has changed drastically in recent months – thanks to the use of E-LEARNING in nursing.
HOW E-LEARNING HAS HELPED US IN OUTPATIENT CARE
What I noticed first is that e-learning in nursing offers us a lot of advantages, especially compared to traditional learning methods. I often complete the learning units on the train on the way to work, so that I have nothing more to do after work. After all, things are constantly changing for us, and in order for me to do my job well, I need a great deal of background knowledge.
Everyone learns differently, and e-learning in nursing allows me to learn at my own pace and customize my learning path. Previously, we simply had to fill out standardized tests after sitting for hours in a musty room whose oxygen content was similar to climbing Mount Everest. So you can imagine that the concentration was not necessarily at its peak at this point. E-learning in nursing offers the advantage that everyone can take the time they need, even with pleasant air quality. That’s not such a bad thing, is it, when you consider that we work directly with people?
I have been working in the same nursing home in Aachen for 15 years now. This belongs to a large corporation headquartered in Berlin. Traditionally, the training courses used to take place in the capital. So my colleagues and I traveled 7 (!) hours from the far west to the east in all weathers every time. On the way, we always imagined we were sitting on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Thanks to e-learning in nursing, I now save an enormous amount of time. I don’t have to wait for class or travel; instead, I can even learn relaxed on the sofa.

Through realistic simulations, I can virtually experience complex care situations and improve my skills before applying them in the real world. The practical application of e-learning in nursing is a particular pleasure for me, after an intern accidentally punctured my thigh with a syringe during an exercise last year.

Recently, a young woman visited us at the home. She said she worked for a “LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM PROVIDER”. I think the company is called Wisstech or Swisstech or something like that. I thanked her for the enormous support that e-learning in nursing provides us. Thereupon the young woman revealed to me that the development was not yet at the end and that she and her colleagues were continuously working on improvements for E-LEARNING FOR COMPANIES.
The possibilities of e-learning in nursing have fascinated me. Modern technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality are intended to offer realistic simulations that are almost indistinguishable from reality. This development would be incredible for e-learning in nursing, as it would allow us to train even more practically and prepare for stressful situations. I assured the young woman that we would stay in CONTACT and talk again in a few years about how these techniques have developed.
E-learning in nursing is more than just an alternative to traditional education. It is a pioneer for a new era in nursing education that puts flexibility, individuality and technological innovation in the foreground. It not only prepares us for the challenges of today, but also equips us for the future. And I am glad that it is used at work.
