TRAINING PLATFORMS: THE KEY TO EFFECTIVE EMPLOYEE TRAINING

6 Minuten

Updated: July 11, 2024

Recently, the committee “Deutsche Fortbildungs-Bundesliga” (DFB) met again. Julian N., who had already addressed effective training tools in a previous meeting and had hit the nail on the head with the attendees, would also inspire the audience that afternoon with a central topic in education & training: training platforms.

“Somewhere, the training tools must be connected and find their content origin,” he opened the meeting. With his passion and conviction, he spoke about the importance of training platforms for DIGITAL EMPLOYEE TRAINING.

WHAT IS a TRAINING PLATFORM?

“Imagine a training platform as a comprehensive training center,” Julian began. “It is a digital environment that enables the creation, management, and tracking of training programs. From videos and quizzes to interactive simulations – everything necessary for effective learning is offered here and is digitally interconnected. One could say it is the heart of our modern continuing education.”

KEY FEATURES OF AN EFFECTIVE TRAINING PLATFORM

User-friendliness: Easy to use for employees and administrators

“A good training platform for businesses must be intuitive and easy to use,” Julian explained. “Similar to a user-friendly football training device that makes life easier for both coaches and players and contributes to their development.”

Scalability: Adaptability to company size

“The training platform should be able to grow with the company,” Julian continued. “Imagine our training center could easily expand to accommodate new players without compromising quality.”

Content Management: Integration, management, and distribution of training content

“An effective online training platform allows content to be easily integrated and distributed,” Julian said. “It’s like a flexible training program that can always be adapted to the team’s needs.”

Interactivity: Integration of videos, quizzes, simulations, and discussions

“Interactive elements of the LMS are crucial for engaged learning,” Julian emphasized. “Comparable to interactive training exercises that actively involve and motivate players.”

Progress Tracking: Monitoring employee learning progress and performance

“The ability to track learning progress is like a continuous performance analysis,” Julian explained. “This way, we always know where we stand and which areas need improvement. The fact that individual learners exhibit different learning progress and paces is also not an issue for an effective training platform. This is addressed through individual learning progress management.”

Accessibility: Availability on various devices (computers, tablets, smartphones)

“Learning should be possible anywhere, anytime,” Julian said. “Like mobile training equipment that is always ready for use. It’s no wonder that E-LEARNING FOR BUSINESSES is becoming increasingly popular. I’m sitting on the bus and it’s stuck in rush hour traffic? Or the train that’s supposed to take me to the next game is delayed again? Well, then I’ll just do two or three learning units – they only take a few minutes. The process and possibilities can be designed to be that casual and straightforward.”

Integrability: Seamless integration with other enterprise systems

“A good training platform should integrate seamlessly with existing systems,” Julian added. “It’s like a multifunctional training center that works perfectly with all other facilities.”

BENEFITS OF USING TRAINING PLATFORMS FOR EMPLOYEES AND COMPANIES

Efficiency: Time and cost savings through automated processes

“The advantages are clear to us:

  • We become faster and thus more cost-effective in the process.
  • Learning becomes location and time-independent. Whether on the bus, in the bathtub, or during lunch break.
  • We can respond much better to the individual needs of learners.
  • With engaging, short, and concise learning units, we increase motivation.
  • This is reflected in an improved learning culture in the long term – and that is exactly what we need, dear friends.

I do not want to let this opportunity pass for us as the `Deutsche Fortbildungs-Bundesliga`. We have been truly antiquated until now, and with an effective learning platform, we now have the chance to change that.”

AREAS OF APPLICATION FOR TRAINING PLATFORMS IN COMPANIES

Onboarding new employees: Fast and effective induction

“An effective onboarding program is crucial,” Julian said. “Like a well-organized training camp for new players.”

Compliance Training: Training on legal regulations and company policies

“Compliance training ensures that all regulations are adhered to,” Julian stated. “Comparable to a rulebook that every player must know.”

Product and Sales Training: Training on new products and sales techniques

“Regular product and sales training keeps the team up to date. Like training new plays.”

Technical Training: Development of specific technical skills

Julian emphasized: “Technical training is essential! Comparable to learning special playing techniques.”

Leadership Development: Fostering future leaders

“The development of leaders is crucial for long-term success,” Julian said. “Like training future team captains.”

SELECTING THE RIGHT TRAINING PLATFORM FOR COMPANIES

Criteria and Factors: User-friendliness, adaptability, integrability, cost, support

“When selecting the right training platform, several factors must be considered,” Julian explained. “It’s like choosing the best training equipment – it must fit and provide support. As in sports, corporate training often involves experience and consistency. For this reason, one could almost say that GLOBAL TEACH® is the Manuel Neuer of digital training, because it has consistently proven its performance for many years. And the company behind the product, Swissteach AG from Nidau in Switzerland, has already proven itself in the past as a reliable partner for a variety of organizations and companies across different industries, brilliantly mastering seemingly impossible requirements through structured and professionally excellent work. We need that too!”

Julian concluded his presentation with a satisfied smile. His colleagues’ skepticism had vanished, and they were convinced of the benefits of a training platform. The company was ready to take the next step in employee training and fully leverage the advantages of this modern solution.

Designated HR staff organise most of the administrative tasks (e.g. invitations to participants, reservations for rooms and the necessary infrastructure or other resources). Parts of the process are partially automated.
A software system automates numerous actions. However, there are still numerous manual organisational tasks that require specific employees to take action for the final organisation.
We already have a (learning management) system that supports us with the organisational tasks required for training. There are still a few organisational tasks that have to be carried out manually by a very small number of employees and with only a manageable amount of effort.
